My take on the Post-Pandemic Economy: Lessons in Ethical Growth

In the last few years, our societies have gone through what we thought was the end of the world, impacting each of us directly or indirectly by the 2020 pandemic and its collateral effects on social dynamics and market equilibriums. Beyond the immediate challenges, there has been a shift in mindsets, a shift in information consumption and most importantly, the emergence of new prosperous opportunities for the ‘’early riser’’.

Undoubtedly, one of the most striking outcomes has been the rapid creation of businesses with solutions that can be consumed virtually from anywhere in the world. This trend has fueled an unprecedented expansion and diversification of products and services, some of which address real, pressing needs, while others seem to solve “pseudo-problems.”

What we thought was unshakeable as a business and product, is now facing multiple competitors, and when it feels like all possible consumer needs have been addressed, businesses find ways to uncover or create new ones, driving the development of products that we never realized we needed.

Race against the clock

In my opinion, this innovation boom has initiated a ‘’race against the clock’’ scenario where those newly created companies are in a hurry to compete and to develop a product, market it, sell it, maintain it and hire exceptional people to do all of that. I would say rightfully so, as competition drives progress. However, this has a downside as it will at some point create unhealthy and unethical practices aimed at short term gains and compromises the very principles of long-term growth and profitability. Worse, they risk damaging trust with consumers - who are I believe the most powerful advocates for any business.

The main goal behind GTM Evolve

The above thoughts and scenarios are one of the reasons why I wanted to take a step back and reflect on the impact of positioning software products the way we have been doing in recent years, which has been driven by this constant rush to get to a fake ideal, distracting us from identifying and solving real problems for a real market-product fit.

GTM Evolve wants to collaborate with initial go-to-market strategies and adjust the pace or accelerate it, based on the real factors influencing the growth of the businesses we support - all in the most ethical way keeping in mind our responsibility to serve customers with excellence and integrity.
